Summer Band Camp
  • Does my child need a physical?  Yes, send form to school, preferably on the 1st day of band camp. 
  • Do we need to be pre-registered?  Preferred, but if you missed the registration packets in the Spring just show up and register on day 1.   Check out our Facebook Page for dates & times. 
  • Is there a cost for Summer Band Camp?  No cost, it is part of your marching registration.

  • What Marching Attire is included? 
    • The students receive a Marching Band tee at no cost with registration.
    • The Marching Band sweatshirt is separate, cost is $30, which includes a name on the back. We highly recommended the sweatshirt.  Seen in picture at left.
    •  Uniforms are checked out, no cost.  
      • Marchers will be fitted during marching camp  & finished sometime within the first couple weeks of school.  
      • Uniforms are stored at school in the uniform room.
      • Students may buy marching shoes or borrow marching shoes.
      • Marchers will need Black Socks.  No jewelry in parades

Marching Practice
  • When is Marching practice?  
    • Marching Practice is 2 times weekly on Tuesdays & Thursdays.  
      • Practice begins at 6:30PM and ends at 8:30PM.
      • Transportation is not provided.  
        • Parents pick up and drop off in the bus lane at the front of the building, 
      • Last Fall practice for 2018 season is October 25th.
      • Extra practices are sometimes added. 
      • Occasionally a practice may be cancelled.  Sign up for text alerts.  Instructions on the home page

Home Football Games
  • Band plays at all home football games and playoffs starting September 1st. 
  • Football season AKA Marching Band Season is a great time to listen to the band. 
  • Join us at any home game and enjoy listening to this amazing band.
    • Where are the games?
      • OC Pioneer Stadium: 1417 12th St., Oregon City, OR 97045
    • When does my band student need to be at the stadium?
      • Call time is usually 6:15.  Homecoming is 3:45 PM at the stadium.  
        • The students will be able to get a music stand when they arrive. 
        • The game begins at 7:00 PM
    • What is the cost?
      • No cost to students, they just need to bring their ASB card.
      • Parents: the cost is $6.00 at the gate.
      • Band does get a break during 3rd quarter, there is food available to purchase. 
    • When is the game over?
      • Usually around 9 PM.
        • We play at the end for a few minutes. 
      • Band does bottle recycling after the games.  
        • Sections take turns cleaning the stands and putting away the collection bins,  
        • Recycling takes 15-30 minutes.
        • Thank you to our parent coordinator who sets out the collections bin at 5PM before each game, leads the students after the games and collects the cans for sorting.

Marching Band Beach Retreat
  • What is the cost of retreat?
    • $80-150 (varies year to year).  We work hard to keep the price as low as possible, while still providing a fun and safe experience. 
  • When is retreat?
    • Retreat is in late September or Early November.  Check calendar for this year's date. 
    • Camp Wi-ne-ma
  • Where is retreat?
    • The past few years we've gone to a private camp at the beach.
    • We ride a school bus to the beach. 
    • Meals are provided
      • Meals for special dietary needs are provided. Please notify Mr. Henson ASAP
    • Chaperones and teachers are present.
  • What do we do at retreat?
    • Retreat is not only a great bonding activity, it's a music packed weekend of learning their music, nailing down marching forms and more.

Homecoming Parade and Game
  • When is homecoming?
    • Early October.  check calendar for this year's date. ​
    • This Year's Date: TBA
  • What is band's role at Homecoming?
    • Band will march in the OC Homecoming Parade.  
      • Students will meet at Jackson Stadium.
      • The OC Homecoming parade starts at Gardiner Middle School and ends at Jackson Campus.
        • A good place to watch is in front of the old high school on Jackson.
      • Band will march into the stadium
  • Band will set up to play pep for the game. 
  • We provide a dinner to the band.
    • Pizza, cookies and drinks.
  • Band will perform the field show for the 1st time at the OCHS Homecoming game

Other Fall and Winter Performances
  • Possible College Field Show Performance
    • Mid to Late October, check calendar for this year's date. 
    • They will march through the tailgaters.
    • They will perform their field show.
    • Chaperones needed
      • Must fill out a volunteer application yearly with the OC School District.
  • Pep Band for Basketball Games at OCHS .
    • Band plays Pep for basketball games starting in January through late February. 
    • Mid Week Games
    • Parents can work in the concessions stand and earn money for their child's student accounts. 
      • Concessions has consistently been a very profitable fund-raiser for the Boosters.  There are several fun jobs to do while you are there.  Usually, you can just show up at your scheduled time and let the person in charge know what you will feel most comfortable doing, whether it's taking customer orders and money, preparing the orders, stocking, cleaning, etc... It's all fun!
        • Must have a food handlers permit.

​Spring Band Trips- Overnighters
We rotate between 2 spring trips in May every other year.  
​ 
  • May Trip 1: Band travels to Florence after marching in the OC Teddy Bear Parade
    • Overnight stay at the beach
    • March in the Florence Parade
  • May Trip 2: Band travels to Victoria, Canada
    • 2 nights in Victoria
    • March in the Victoria Days Parade
    • Sightseeing: Including The Butchart Gardens, Downtown Victoria and more. 
  • Trip Costs
    • Cost TBD.  Will include most meals, transportation, planned activities and lodging.
    • Band Account funds may be used to pay for the trip. 
  • Chaperones
    • Must fill out a volunteer application yearly with the OC School District.
      • Must be fingerprinted.
      • Cost will be announced for each trip. 
    • Trips are dependent on scheduling and availability and acceptance of applications.
      • As soon as a trip has been planned, students and parents will be notified.
        • Usually through Booster Club meetings, Facebook and this website.

Can my child letter in band?
Yes! 
  • They can letter in Concert Band​.
  • They can letter in Marching Band.
  • They can letter in Jazz Band.
​See how in the Band Handbook.  Some requirements include attending practices, games and required events.  ​Letters are awarded at the end of the year.

Marching Band Costs/Fees for 2017-2018 School Year 
  • Marching/Scarlet Brigade Fall Marching Band Registration (includes t-shirt) $175.00
  • Marching Shoes (optional, but highly recommended) $34.00
  • Marching Band Sweatshirt (optional, highly recommended) $30.00
  • ASB Card $30.00
  • Winter Pep Band (no fee), just sign up.  T-shirt (included in Fall registration fee)
  • Spring Marching Band Registration (use t-shirt from fall) $175.00

Jazz Band Costs

  • Early Bird Jazz Band Fee $50.00 per term
  • See Concert Attire form for pricing for gentleman/ladies dependent on class they are enrolled.​
  • *Varsity Jazz Band Trip Cost: Approx. $150 - $2000
